Talk and Barbeque
Held At Stockbury Village Hall
on
Sunday 28th August 2005

We started the talk with an introduction by our chairman Mike welcoming everybody and explaining it was based on Mick and Anne’s experience of a two day training course at the home of Jan Fennell the “Dog Listener”.

He then handed over to Mick who gave a short account of how Jan Fennell developed her methods by studying the behaviour of wolf packs and working out how this could be adapted to help in dog training.

Anne followed this with a very informative talk, which started by asking us questions to get us thinking such as why we had our dogs. This was followed by examples of the pack /family structure with the objective of dog/s recognising the handler as being the pack leader (alpha). The various techniques to achieving this were then covered prompting a number of questions from the audience of about thirty-five.

Mike with thanks to Anne and Mick concluded the talk.

So it was then out of the hall to the barbeque with near perfect weather and a good spread everybody was soon tucking in. The sausages, beef burgers, rolls, salad, melon followed by various gateaux's were all very tasty. A big thank you to all who helped. Tea and coffee was served before drawing the raffle, which together with guess the number of sweets in the jar raised about £40. Mary did very well to guess the exact number, 155, to win the sweets.

Thanks again to the helpers for all their hard work putting on the event and everyone who supported it.
