Walks Completed During 2005

Capstone Park Hucking Upnor Capstone Park Revisited White Horse Country Park
CAPSTONE PARK

Sunday the 10th April 2005

The first walk of the year took place at Capstone Park on Sunday the 10th April 2005 and was enjoyed by approx 18 dogs and handlers. The walk started in the main car park and took us past the Ski slope and round into open fields. By this point all the dogs were off lead and it was good to see them running together without any problems. We came across other people walking their dogs and some of their dogs briefly attached themselves with our group without any fuss.
Further on we came to the edge of the field and paused for a group photo.

The walk then followed a number of paths one adjacent to a muddy puddle, much enjoyed by
one Labrador.

Eventually we ended up back at the car park and the end of walk cup of tea.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for organising the walk.

HUCKING

Sunday 29th May 2005

The second walk of the year took place at Hucking and was well attended by 17 dogs who decided to bring along their owners.

As usual a few dogs ( Charlie, Basil & Bailey ) found the really muddy puddles to cool off in. We don't know what Sam found in the woods, but he was not very popular, unless you were down wind.

The end of the walk was appreciated by the owners.

Thank you to all who supported us on the walk
Anne & Terry

Upnor

Sunday 17th July 2005

This walk, the third of the year started from Upnor Castle car park following a route that took us down past the marina where a number of yachts were being launched and on to the River Medway foreshore. The dogs, fourteen of them were duly released and had a great time running and playing in the water. With the temperature in the upper twenties this gave them a chance to cool down before continuing the walk. We then followed the river along to Hoo marina turning away from the river to Hoo church on through farm land pausing for drinks and a cool down in a nice shady spot.
Refreshments over, the circular route continued down through a wooded area bringing us back to the steps leading to the Castle car park. Having covered about 5 miles in the hot sun some of the fourteen handlers decided to sample one of the local pubs before setting of home.
Many thanks to Anne and Terry for organising another enjoyable walk.
As future walks are arranged and the details become available they will be posted on the top part of this page.

Thanks again to Anne and Terry

Capstone Park Revisited

Sunday 21st August 2005

In ideal walking conditions, dry and not to hot, the fourth walk of the year started from the car park of Capstone Park. The route different and longer from the one earlier in the year this time took us passed the visitors centre then up along a path to more open grassland areas. The fifteen dogs were soon off lead and having a great time. All this chasing around is thirsty work so at the top of the slope a water break was called.
This was followed by a group photo.

Then off again along a path through a wooded area to another open space from there the path down to the car park and the end of the walk.

Some of the fifteen handlers found the burger van to much of an attraction and had a cuppa to round the morning off. Good enjoyable walk taking about eighty minutes with plenty of free running for the dogs.

When future walks are arranged and the details become available they will be posted on the top part of this page.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for organising the walk.

White Horse Country Park

Sunday 25th September 2005

Stockbury Dog Club goes to ruin.

Six members of Stockbury Dog Club completed a walk in the newly opened White Horse country park on the A249 at Detling hill taking in the ruins of Thurnham Castle. As the weather was a bit damp during training we were all prepared for rain but the weather was kind to us and the sun shone allowing us to enjoy a walk of 1 hr 20 mins.
We will be exploring further to extend the walk in the future.

Thanks once again for your continued support for the Walks

Anne & Terry
