Sunday 1st January 2006

For a cold damp New Years day Stockbury dog club did us proud once again. 14 dogs plus assorted owners met at Leybourne Lakes Snodland and enjoyed a walk lasting 1 hour 45 minutes around the 3 Lakes.

A club member from the puppy class rescued a swan caught in some fencing and set it free in the Lake.
Full marks for all the dogs for being so well behaved sitting quietly while rescue took place.
Anne would like to apologise to any body that got wet and muddy from Mizzie but you were warned.
Tea Coffee and mince pies were very welcome and needed on return to the car park.

Once again thanks to all that support us on the walks

Capstone Country Park

Sunday 2nd April 2006

We set off for the second organised walk of the year to explore another route around Capstone Park which Anne and Terry had worked out for us. This walk set a new record for the number of people and dogs taking part, 27 dogs and 36 people. The walk took us up a path from the main car park, through the upper car park and then through various fields. On the way we stopped to give the dogs a chance to practice their downs and the for a group photo. Further on we came to a number of muddy puddles which the dogs took advantage of, then after pausing for another photo of the dogs in a group down stay we made our way back to the cafe.
The walk lasted for one and a half hours and it was good to see so many dogs enjoying themselves.

Thanks to all who supported us on the walk and a special thank you to Anne and Terry for organising it.

Hucking

Sunday 4th June 2006

In brilliant sunshine 27 intrepid Stockbury Dog Club folk set off from the Hook and Hatchet car park at about half past eleven towards the woodlands of Hucking accompanied by 23 dogs. The line with Anne at the front and Terry in the rear keeping the stragglers in touch with the main column made its way across two fields before arriving in the wooded area. The dapple shade from the trees gave a break from the sun for the handlers and the dogs, although the dogs also made use of a number of very muddy puddles.

Shortly after stopping to give the dogs a drink we entered some more fields pausing for a group photo before entering some more woodland. The route took on past some very vocal sheep until we could see the chimneys of the Hook and Hatchet, then across a field back to the pub at about one o'clock and a chance for handlers and dogs to relax and take on drink and food.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for organising the walk through the beautiful woodland countryside and also arranging such good weather.

Teston

Sunday 16th July 2006

Another excellent turn out by Stockbury Dog Club Members at Teston Bridge Picnic site on a hot Sunday morning with 18 dogs or was it 17 maybe 15 no  now we have them in a sit it's18. A good time was had by all on about a two hour walk with owners coming up with many ideas of how to get a dog over a stile or under it and some went through the stiles and one or two were carried over. A few Dogs had a swim to cool off and if your name was Charlie you had a mud bath.

Once again thanks to every body that supported us on what we think is a good bit of socialisation for dogs and owners.

Hucking Revisited

Sunday 27th August 2006

Stockbury Dog Club Members supported us once again despite the rain we had on Saturday. There were 13 dogs and assorted owners ready to take on mud, puddles and all that the elements could throw at us.

To our surprise there were less puddles etc than we had had on the previous walk in dry weather at Hucking. At the beginning of the walk we had an instant recall when sheep were seen in the field that was clear when checked by Terry and Anne.

A big well done to all owners as all dogs instantly returned on command.

The Walk took about 1hr 50 minutes through the woods and fields with all dogs running and playing off lead. At the end of the walk owners had a welcome rest at the Hook and Hatchet.

Once again thank you all for your support

Anne & ( I know my place )Terry

Capstone Country Park Revisited

Sunday 31st December 2006

The morning of New Years Eve 2006 saw a 35 strong group of dog club members, family and friends along with at least 24 dogs gather at 10am in the car park ready to enjoy another walk around Capstone Park.
Shortly after setting off we came across the first of many puddles left from the previous nights gales and rain. Sure enough Charlie was one of the dogs to top up with water.

We went up the hill then through various fields with the dogs off lead and enjoying themselves.

After a while a halt was called for the usual group photo to be taken.

Along the route there were various other stops which gave everybody a chance to catch up and have a chat.

By the end of the walk all the dogs had picked up their fair share of mud, Zak putting it to good use as camouflage.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for organising the walk and the mince pies which we enjoyed with our tea and coffee at the cafe.
